The Hong Kong Youth Wind
Philharmonia was formed in September this year as a non-profit
origination under the auspices of the Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia, Hong
Kong¡¦s first wind orchestra formed by professional musicians. Young music
students were well represented in the audiences of the Hong Kong Wind
Philharmonia¡¦s previous concerts which gave us the inspiration to create
the Hong Kong Youth Wind Philharmonia. These talented young
musicians, all under the age of 25, were selected by audition to be
members of the Hong Kong Youth Wind Philharmonia. The aim of this new
ensemble is to train and provide guidance to future generations of young
Hong Kong wind, brass and percussion players to continue to maintain the
highest level of performance possible and continue this great tradition of
music making in Hong Kong.
